Statera Recruiting Team

What Makes an Employee Stay at Statêra for 15+ Years?

I often ask myself “what makes an employee stay with a company for 15+ years”, as I have worked at Statêra for Brad Weydert and Carl Fitch that long. The answer I come back with is always the same – the incredible people and the leadership in having built such a successful company.

I still remember and go back to when Statêra was first formed, and person after person would ask why in the world would one start a consulting company in the middle of a horrible tech recession – the bubble had burst! Brad’s answer, and philosophy, stuck with all of us and it’s true to this day. He said, “There’s always work out there, you just have to work a little harder to find it – but we get the pick of the litter of the best and brightest people”.

So that’s what we did – hire the best, who naturally carry the same characteristics of helping to build the Statêra alliance. Great consultants allow us to win the best projects, which means we continue to grow and do great things in the market that we’re all very proud of.

I’ve seen many consultants come and go, but I think most companies don’t share the same reasons for their turnover. We’ve had consultants let us know they’re leaving because they had received a truckload of money to build their new product idea, and become wildly successful in doing so (and later became clients). Many of our strategic partners have seen the talent we hire, and some are wowed away because it’s always been a goal to work for them. And most of the time, we’ll get a call from our client letting us know our consultant has done such a great job that they would like the opportunity to approach them about coming on full-time.

These are the kind of people I want to be surrounded by!

Not to mention that our Recruiting team has all been here since day 1. Yes, all 4 of us. We laugh at, and with each other all the time. We know pretty much what everyone is thinking, and we’re all on board in accomplishing the goal. Our fearless leader, Karey Brown, goes to bat for us when she needs to, and lets us do our thing when it’s appropriate.

If you’re going to spend 40+ hours a week at work, I suggest make sure it’s with people you want to be with, who make you better and strive for greatness.
